Transferring music from ipod to new computer

Hi there. Looking for a bit of advice as I am cluless when it comes to technology. My old laptop is broken (won't even switch on) so have no access to my old itunes. I want to download itunes on my new laptop. Question is - is there a way of syncing this to my ipod without losing all the music that's on the ipod. Also can you have more than 1 version of itunes for an ipod?Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks!

download sharepod, run sharepod back ipod upto pc into my music, install itunes onto new computer drag drop music from my music into itunes . Or if you dont want to use itunes just use sharepod to put songs onto ipod.

If laptop is totalled open it remove hardrive drop it into a enclosure(caddy).This will give you all your old stuff on a portable drive.This should be doable in 30 minutes for about £30.Also your learn a bit too.
With regaurds to files on ipod, you can connect ipod to pc ,goto folder options in control panel tick the box to view hidden files.Then look in my computer at ipod there will be 4 or 5 folders full of files which are labelled with 5 or 6 lettter & number combinations. These are your renamed tracks copy them to pc.Then a good music player can rename them from there tags.
