0% BT CC not linked to bank account?

I am looking for a CC I can apply for a 0% balance transfer but doesnt seem like there are any suitable for me because they are all attached to bank accounts.

I currently have:

Barclaycard with 6.4k limit (this limit has just recently automatically increased and promotional 0% BT is coming to an end)
Egg 2k limit (no 0% but they just recently offered me 12 months 0% but charging a 5% transfer fee!! I couldn't get my limit raised last time i requested a couple of months back)
Virgin 3.1k limit (0% BT currently)
Creation 2k limit (0% BT currently)

I previously had an hsbc and halifax card in the past and looking at these now they are account attached. Are there any others out there not in any stables or attached to accounts I could apply for? I've just recently closed a tesco cc too.

In order to be improve my chances of being successful in applying for a new card would it be advisable to reject the credit limit increase from barclaycard? My debt to salary ratio is: 37% and debt to credit limit ratio is: 58% (this is with the credit increase from barclaycard)

Hopefully try and get something sorted out today or the next couple of days.

Thanks for your help peeps! :)

http://www.stoozing.com/0fees.php - says you could still try at least Halifax Plus (no account needed), Co-Op (6 months only), Sainsbury's (confusing variants, pick the right one), Post Office, Santander/Paypal, Lloyds platinum (weird purchase needed).

No idea about the chances with the limits though - fingers crossed the one you pick is lenient with your ratios...
    Enjoy the silence...
  • are my ratios good or bad? What do I need to do to improve them?
  • actually just realised that I got rejected for an RBS card a couple of months back. so that means the halifax one is out of the question isnt it?

any other options i could go for? Also to improve my chances do i reduce my credit limit on my barclaycard from the automatic increase they applied?

    much appreciated people! :)

The RBS group only includes RBS and Natwest, but Halifax and the BOS (The HBOS group) has nothing to do with them. HBOS in turn seems to be merging with Lloyds, but they are still separate, so either of those could still be good.

As a rule of thumb, the last I remember, 10-30% credit usage is usually not considered risky, and 50% credit to salary is an usual maximum - I don't think it would be easy to quickly fix it though unless you can bump your salary and/or repay a lot of of the outstanding debt.

There are signs that the banks are actually willing to extend credit to people with the right risk profile, so there may not be such clear cut percentages for acceptance, but the normal APR (outside the 0%), may be non-typical if too many things are outside the normal ranges.

  • well i applied for a halifax card and got a contact you in 10 days response to my application. how are halifax usually with referrals of applications? could it be because i have applied outside of normal working hours?

i also decreased my limit on the barclaycard which hopefully will help in my favour by not having too much credit attributed to me.

    hi

thought i would drudge up an old thread rather than start a new one.

basically i need a new 0% BT card and with my acceptance of the halifax card i think ive used up the available lenders out there with who i have cards with to have the best chance of being successful. is there anyone else i could try? i'm confused with lloyds and how they rank with my cards and i did have a tesco card awhile ago, would it be better to retry for that? i'm wanting to shut down my egg card as they as pi$$ poor.

    barclaycard 3k limit
    egg 1.5k limit
    virgin 3.1k limit
    halifax 3.2k limit
creation 2k limit currently looking to downgrade to 1.5k

    annual income is 21k

much appreciated for your help peeps. :)
