Economy Delivery

What's this? Is it another term for second class post? I bought something last weekend and it still hasn't turned up a week later - it's only a baby item and is less than 7 miles away. Other things I ordered later in the week have turned up, so I went back to the original listing and have seen 'economy delivery 8-10 days'.
When did this come in? Is it 8-10 days from auction ending or from the item being posted? I think 7 days is plenty of time to expect something to be delivered, whether it is coming second class or not. I know some people can't get to the PO except on certain days and I except that - but surely this time limit is just encouraging less conscientious sellers to be tardy.
I sold some things yesterday, they are all wrapped and ready to go - do I make the effort and catch the post this morning or do I wait until next weekend, which will still fall within the 8-10 day limit?

Not a good idea. Whatever your delivery method slowness in sending is likely to put your stars at risk.horseykitty wrote: »I sold some things yesterday, they are all wrapped and ready to go - do I make the effort and catch the post this morning or do I wait until next weekend, which will still fall within the 8-10 day limit?
8-10 days does seem an extremely long time for any delivery service.0 -
That's my point Martindow - I am going to post them off this morning but with the 8 -10 window I could leave it to next week. If this window is there can you really lose stars if it arrives within the time frame i.e. you know beforehand how long it could take, so does that justify taking some stars off?
It's like taking stars off for postage - if you agree to it, even if it is a silly amount, you can't really take stars off I don't think as nobody is forcing you to pay it.
It is a ridiculous time frame for ordinary goods to be delivered and I can't think why it has been introduced.0 -
They are hedging their bets by allowing a long time for delivery because second class post can sometimes take that long. Despatch should not in general be more than two or three days after.
If you are still waiting for something, then you can always do INR through Paypal rather than eBay.
Personally since the buyer is not in possession of the full facts regarding how much a certain item will cost to post, it is definitely not daft to have stars for postage and packing charges. Hiding behind that excuse will do you few favours in the long run."Well, it's election year, Bill, we'd rather people didn't exercise common sense..." - Jed Bartlet, The West Wing, season 4
