Google Chrome freezing PC

Hi
Recently Chrome updated on my work pc to version 7.0.517.41, since this update the pc freezes and locks up at regular intervals during the working day. When it happens all I'm able to do is shutdown via pressing and holding in the power switch on the front of the tower.
Sometimes the pc will run fine for a few hours before locking up, other times it will do it straight away, almost as soon as the pc has booted up and chrome is running with a couple of windows open.
As this was getting very annoying, I've switched back to firefox and since then my pc hasn't locked up once, and has worked perfectly all day:T
So to me this does show that its a problem within chrome and not the pc so does anyone know what could be the problem and if it can be fixed?
I would like to get it sorted as I do like chrome;)

Probably not malware but better to properly rule it out:
Download Malwarebytes Anti-Malware 1.46 - FileHippo.com Download and Install. UPDATE tab, click CHECK FOR UPDATES, then run a QUICK SCAN. Should hopefully take 10-15min max depending on your computer size. Remove anything it finds and post a log here.0 -
43 minutes into a scan atm;)
Will post a logfile if anything untoward is found, running a full scan as I already had it running before you replied:)0 -
Did you update definitions before the scan?0
