With talktalk broadband disconnects?

Hi all,

I would be very grateful for a little advice from you.
I'm with talktalk and every so often the broadband goes down even though my netgear router's 192.168.0.1 page says its still connected in router status. No web page will display. I have tried clicking disconnect from internet in router status and then connecting again, but even though that is successful still no internet. Router is connected to desktop through ethernet

If I disconnect power from router then connect power again and let router reboot then that solves the problem for maybe another day or less. I have tried using a similar netgear router (dg834g v3) but still the same problem. Router timeout is set to 0. Same problem with wireless laptop.

Im not using the router that talktalk sent me, though I think that probably makes no difference. Do I need to get talktalk to change my profile as they seem to do for a lot of people with similar problems?

thanks
Joe

TalkTalk my not be able to help you very much if you are not using their router. I suggest you use their router and if the same happens then contact them, as that way there is no get out because of using a "foreign" router.

My xbox live buddy from Bradford is having no end of problems with Talk Talk

He will be on and off constantly due to his router loosing the internet connection. They've sent him 2 routers and both have a failed to solve the problem yet they say they won't send an engineer as BT confirm the line is ok.

I wouldn't touch Talk Talk with a 10ft barge pole.

    Good luck
