Anyone else know anything about this ? Sounds abit like the swede/turnip question
I found a pic on this page .... but it looks like they've used the same pic for a pamphrey and a savoy cabbage

I cooked a gammon ham in a covered dish in the oven, and have got lots of liquid from it that looks like it could be stock - light amber colour that's jellified in the fridge.
Can I use this for anything? I haven't heard of ham stock so I wondered if I should use it or throw it away?
Any ideas?:cool: DFW Nerd Club member 023...DFD 9.2.2007 :cool::heartpuls married 21 6 08 :A Angel babies' birth dates 3.10.08 * 4.3.11 * 11.11.11 * 17.3.12 * 2.7.12 :heart2: My live baby's birth date 22 7 09 :heart2: I'm due another baby at the end of July 2014! :j

Use it as a stock for vegetable soup, with or without pulses.
Taste it before you season the soup. It may be salty.I used to be indecisive but now I am not sure.0 -
You just have to make lentil soup from this wonderful stock! Boil lentils in it with some chopped onions, add in any left over gammon, absolutely delicious!!You never get a second chance to make a first impression.0

Hi skintchick,
We have a current thread on what to do with the stock from gammon, so I'll merge your thread with it as it helps other readers of the board to find all the suggestions together.

I have yet another ham shank in th slow cooker and the prospect of yet another block of frozen ham stock in the freezer. What can I do with it all?
Thanks, Alison0 -
Use as the basis for any soup made with lentils, dried peas or beans. Add barley and root veg too0
