Boots Advantage Points

  • Thanks mrme, your explanation was definitely helpful but I'm damned annoyed that Boots operate this way

My nearest large Boots store is over 20 miles away, even if I could manage to get to it, and I don't have anyone that could go for me to collect the points. It says they have to be collected within 5 days of receipt of order, so I guess they go off the system after that :(

I wonder if this would fall under the Disability Discrimination Act

    Five days after.

    Thanks for clarifying that :)

I was going by what it said on the invoice page online where it stated "within" but it definitely says "after" on that link.

Assuming they keep them stored indefinitely I should be able to get someone to go and have them put on my card at some point. I also noted on that link that you can't spend your points online either, so it seems to me there's little point in collecting them anyway if I can't spend them :(

I am sure you can collect them at anytime, as I dont go out that often but got my points the last time. It was definately after 5 days. I think this is just to say you wont get them straight away. But I am sure they are just put on your card for you -cos its really annoying when you go in store and the advantage card machine is out of order.

Yes, the points will be available for ages - I forgot about some and they were still there after a few months
    :j :j
  • Looks like it is true that you have to use the machines as I went in the local branch yesterday and the machine was out of order. So no extra points. The casher checked my card so I know that the extra 300online points haven't been added! Boohoo Boots
No reliance should be placed on the above.
  • Well my card wasn't accepted by any of the machines instore and I've bought heaps last week online with extra points too, so I'd better jolly well get them when my replacement card EVENTUALLY arrives...!!!
  • I'm beginning to get annoyed with Boots.com now. They messed up my first order before Christmas last year and now I'm having great difficulty it seems obtaining my deserved points for my most recent order.

I received my second order a week ago today and should have been awarded 1101 points. I made a trip into their Oxford branch, but both advantage card terminals were not working, so went to their shop in Aylesbury the day after and this didn't recognise the fact I am due these points.

I called customer services at the time (Sunday afternoon) and she said to leave it five working days. Fast forward to today, five working days later, and I'm in Milton Keynes. Plonk my card into the machine. No points. Call customer service and she tells me that my points haven't been allocated to my card. Basically, they have completely forgotten to do so.

The woman I spoke to said she would allocate 1200 points to my card and they would appear within the next 48 hours. So I'll have to wait and see. How annoying.

And just to show how incompetent they are; I received an E-mail this morning alerting me to the fact my order had been shipped. I guess the fact it arrived a week ago was quite a good indication of this.

So if you're points aren't appearing, give them a call, E-mailing them is useless.
