Relocating advice please

Myself and my family are looking to relocate North. At present we live in the midlands, my hubby has a great job but unfortunately I cant settle. He has had a job offer for 6K less per year which most people think we would be mad to accept but we feel the job has potential in future years. My question is I have no idea where to start if we decide on the move. How much will it cost us realistically etc. Has anyone done this before, that could share some wisdom with us.

I hope that my child, looking back on today
Will remember a mother who had time to play;

Right, don't know it that well but did look at property there many years ago. I suspect that the nice bits are more expensive than the midlands and the cheaper bits are cheaper for a reason. I get the impression that the further away from the M6 and the bigger, better known, towns the cheaper it gets. But the facilities thin out rapidly too. Hopefully people with more up to date and local knowledge will help out soon.A house isn't a home without a cat.

Thanks, actually we have seen a four bed terraced with large garden which is significantly cheaper then any here, but its actually in a desirable idea with a good school nearby, but Im more concerned about moving costs and what other things we would need to look in to. Any tips to make it less stressful. Also what is the best action when we need to sell quickly and the house wouldnt sell straight away. Do we rent, get a bridging loan etc we have no idea what to do as when we first moved away we were 1st time buyers.
