xmas prezzie for the OH

I am thinking of getting my girlfriend and her a mum a makeover and photoshoot as a joint xmas present from the ones I have found online there about £30 and you get one complimentary photo included. I am just wondering if anyone has been on one of these and knows how much they charge for extra prints?

Thanks Danny

Be careful - some are fine and won't go for the hard sell - but plenty of others are VERY hardsell on the day and charge hundreds (to several thousand!) for anything other than the one free picture... google the company you are thinking of going with first or go with a good reputable local photographer instead :)

  • I have a professional DSLR camera myself just dont have the studio to take the piccies in :( I wanted to get them something they would both enjoy as a day out. Just worried that if they want to buy some of the pics then they will get ripped off! You only get one 8x6 piccie free and pay for the rest. What company did you use mrsE? and how much was it for the photoshoot?

    Many thanks

They were just off Oxford St, booked it through lastminute.com.

Got hair cut & blow dry, make-up & mini manicure & one pic each. Burlington Studios rings a bell.

I think it was about £50-£60 for the two of us. But you had to pay a deposit of about £50 on top, they will try & get you to buy pics saying you are £50 in credit already;)
  • be careful where you go, my mate went to one and gave them my number for a complimentry photo shoot, they charge £200 for 1 photo!!

The reason the photo shoots are so cheap is because they charge the earth for the extra prints and they make you look so good you want to show off. Deadly sin of pride lol.

We have done a couple of the shoots. I had a makeover for my 21st (ended up paying an extra £400 for extra shots) but we did it again for our engagement, and a big family family photo with grannie and all the grandkids. The cheapest way to go into it is knowing that you are going to choose ONE photo and thats it. Don't take a cash/credit card lol.

Last one we used was venture who are a national company £25 for the shoot and 1 pic.

Give some of the local photographers a call and see if they offer any packages cos it may be cheaper and easier to get extra prints over time.

Me again. Your post had me thinking that something like this would be nice for my tween daughter who is nearly 12 and I found this:

    http://www.activitysuperstore.com/Spa-and-Pampering/Makeovers-and-Photoshoots/Deluxe-Makeover-with-Haircut-Was-£44-Now-£22/c8pPNMWH/

the free print is 12x8 which is a good size for a freeby!

  • thanks for your replies! that sounds like a good idea about not taking any cash/cards with you. I could always take some more pics once she gets home to with my camera out in the garden :) dont want to spend 100s on extra photos.

    Thanks for the help :)
