Bailiff attending for his fees only

  • OK dont panic at least not yet :) You really ned some professional advice now there are a few ways the main one I would recommend would be national debtline google them and give them a call explain the situation to them and they will then tell you exactly what you need to do, if it was me and I have one or two run in with the council tax bailiff in my area, in the end I went and sat in the waiting room at the council and would not move until I got to see someone in charge in the revenue collection department, if your council is anything like ours a lot of the time it is a jobsworth that answers the phone who with all the respect due (not a lot!) 9 times out of 10 does not have the first clue what they are doing demand to speak to a manager if you still get no joy tell them straight you are going to put the whole thing in the hands of your local MP, doing this I persuaded the council to take our file back from there blood sucking bailiff and they then allowed us to set up a realistic payment arrangement.

I know this is slightly different circumstances but they have a duty to take your complaint seriously and address the concerns you raise regarding a council represetative demanding illegal fees from you, dont waste time get onto it first thing in the morning and make them listen to you and take your complaint seriously.

I am not too sure about the certification thing you could go to Herbie21's site which is http://www.bailiffadviceonline.co.uk/ there is a wealth of information there and you can if you wish phone a premium rate number to get through to her directly for further advice, I dont normally condone the use of premium rate numbers for such advice and have made my feelings clear on this many other times in other threads however in this case it may well be worth a few quid to see what you can do if anything to stop the in there tracks.

It wont hurt either if you get in touch with your local MP and explain the situation and tell them nobody at the council is taking your complaint about illegal charges seriously again they have a duty to investigate Im sure they do...

Best of luck if you are quick you can still speak to national debtline now until about 8pm I think, come back and let us know what they said :)

Chin up I know sometimes it feels as though you are banging your head against a wall and nobody is listening to you so now you have to find a way of putting them in a situation where they have no choice but to listen :)
