Paypal- buyers payment & a bank reversal

Hello

I sold a costume on ebay 5 days ago, buyer paid straight away by Paypal, has received the costume and left positive feedback. However I have just got this email from Paypal-

We were recently notified that a payment you received was reversed by the buyer’s bank. A bank reversal can be requested by the bank itself or the bank account holder.

We have placed a temporary hold on the funds until our inquiry is complete.

We are reviewing the bank reversal and will contact you again via email with information on what to do next. You may be asked to provide additional information about this transaction.

I log into my Paypal account to make sure the email wasn`t a fake and my balance is minus £12.36! (the amount paid for item). Does anyone know what happens next? Thanks

This usually happens when the buyers details in paypal are out of date. Paypal will hold the funds & ask the buyer to update them. If they do, they will release the funds. If they dont & you cant prove delivery they will take the money back from you. I would contact the buyer & ask them what the problem is, making them aware that if the funds are removed you will expect them to make payment another way.

Or you'll make sure there named and shamed and reported to eBay for fraud as well as going to the Police for fraud!

I had the same experience. I tried to be reasonable/polite but to no avail. Paypal/ebay were useless the police did not want to know. OUt of pocket £24

Don't panic, if this turns into a claim for fraudulent use of a card then you can defend this merely with proof of postage.

Just an update- the buyer has sent me emails acknowledging that they have received the goods so if it all goes wrong i`ve got these as proof including my recorded delivery slip. Thanks for the replies!
