I'm going next week with my husband, my parents and my 2 year old little boy. None of us have been to a Butlins for many years and are hoping to hear from people that have been recently. We're staying in a 'Deluxe Lodge' Mon - Fri. Any advice or info on what to expect would be great! Any idea what entertainment is on when? Any that we shouldn't miss etc? I have nerve damage in my hands and feet following chemo, so am limited to how far I can walk etc, any recommendations?
Thank you. x :j

Hi
My family has been going to Skegness Butlins for many years and always go Gold self catering.
We have our packing down to a tea with what we take etc.
The whole Butlins experiance has been very good for the kids and you need to check on arrival at the desk whats worth booking to benifit you and the family.
You dont need to be running around and can sit with a brew while keeping an eye on the kids being entertained by the red coats is a good way to relax day or night.
We have done the christmas week for the past 4 years as well as summer visits and find it a safe and suitable holiday for all concern.
Food is one thing to think about though. We have found it better to take our own or eat local. Thats unless your into fast food or mass produced meals. We like home cooked food in a nice pub in the local town or I cook fresh.
ps. (If you like a fried egg take your own none stick pan lol)0 -
Hi,
I went to Butlins in Bognor in April this year. It was pretty good, they did alot of shows for the kids throughout the day and in the evening, but the one thing i did hate was how busy it was and we went out of season. You have to make sure you get tickets early for the popular shows and have to queue in the evening for the shows if you want a seat nr the front.
What i hated was it was so busy in the evening on the popular nights that we ended up near the back of the room and my DD wanted to sit at the front stage to watch the show, I felt like i couldn't relax because i couldn;t see where she was ( shes 4yrs old) and i was worried she would get lost.
Tbh it was a great holiday for my DD, lots to do on site, we tried to leave one day but couldn;t find anything worth looking at off site, its a bit run down and the beach wasnt great. But theres plenty to do on site, rides, arcades, swimming pool, and the food was nice in all the resturants we tried on site.
Personally i wouldn't go back there but thats because I'm not into places which are too busy, crowds of people freak me out :rotfl: but my daughter def loved the experience!0 -
hi again in defence for butlins with the ques the biggish acts that butlins have they have to fill the venues and sell lots of drinks to pay for the acts but kids love the whole butlins thing.0

butlins usually only has over 18 weekends from november onwards, so im surprised you have been able to book with a toddler in tow
there is lots to do onsite at bognor, but it is noisy 24/7 and busy - dont expect it to be quiet in term time, just fewer teenagers. if you want to see the kids shows in the evening, you have to queue from about 1hr before show starts, to be able to get a seat within eyeline of the dancefloor/stage, and then have someone in your party who can sprint up the stairs and bag your table
also i would visit the entertainment desk and get a list of show times, and then plan your day around that. at this time of year, the rides and pool close quite early, so its shows or nothing in the evening
it is designed so that you are encouraged to not leave the site, but tbh bognor town/beach isnt really worth a visit other than to kill 1/2hr or stock up on supplies
have a nice time
