Halifax's current policy re. conversion to Clarity Card?

Hi there,
I have a Halifax One card nearing the end of its promotional period.
I intend to convert it to the Clarity card once that happens.
I know previously you can't (you have to cancel and re-apply). Has this matter changed?
Thanks!

I believe Halifax are undergoing financial problems. This is based on their appalling ISA ISA BABY ad. They have employed an actress who is so poorly paid she can't afford acting lessons or a nose job0 -
I was under the impression that they only use staff members in their ads.Getting married 02.08.14
Wins for the wedding: membership for a 'wedsite' and app, £35 gift voucher for party supplies shop, £50 worth of hand painted signs, 1kg of heart shaped marshmallows :money:0 -

True, but to bring the topic back to the original poster's question...firsttimestudent wrote: »Hi there,

As far as I am aware, you can't simply switch your existing card over to a Clarity card.
You can, however, now apply for the Clarity card, and then close the One card when you get to the end of your 0% period.0 -
I tried to do this last month, I have a one card and the 9 month promotion has recently finished, I had to apply for a Clarity card, which I did from my online banking and got Declined, The reason said that I didnt fit the criteria, and was nothing to do with an adverse credit report and that this application would not have a bad affect on my credit status - I'm assuming I was declined because of their 'internal system' even though I've paid on time each month and had past credit - maybe I'm not profitable enough? so I applied for a Barclaycard Platinum and got accepted for 4.5k ! I do wish they had said yes so I could use the card abroad!0

True, but to bring the topic back to the original poster's question...

I called their Card services department today and yes, as you mentioned, there is no way to just change the card.
They suggested that I cancel my card, then reapply after 30 days.
I feel it is risky... Especially as I have made a few applications recently (Natwest Platinum for BT and Capital One Classic for the Cashback).
I previously used the 'guaranteed' offer to get the Halifax One card... How like is it this 'guaranteed' offer will appear again after 30 days?0 -

Well ... how long is a piece of string?
However, if you have a well-managed current account with them, and something else (e.g. savings, mortgage), then you've probably got a fair chance.0
