Like I said jessiecamb .. set yourself a goal and aim to achieve it . every time work is getting you down remind yourself this is the short term stuff you have to do to get yourself where you want to be..
    Good luck

Thank you so much thats really good advice, renewed direction is definitely needed! I did hit some of my long term goals a while back and never set any new ones since - that is probably what is getting me down.

    Problem solved :D

I often got fed up in previous job (although I loved the work and the organisation) because I wasn't able to do enough of the things I really, really enjoyed.

I made a huge long list of things I really like, things I'm really good at, and I built them into my job. I also specifically asked my boss to take on some more work which I enjoyed, and was able to swap the stuff I hated with the stuff I enjoyed with a colleague. I also did more at home outside of work - started boxing lessons, started making handmade cards, started writing - and I was so much happier at work once I started achieving things again!

I felt like I was just 'doing' rather than achieving, so I echo the previous poster's ideas around goal setting - in and out of work. I know I feel so much better when I have a list to tick off than when I've just done 'stuff' but have no idea what it really contributed to!!!

    HTH :)

' <-- See that? It's called an apostrophe. It does not mean "hey, look out, here comes an S".

I agree with the above, see if you can add in extra duties. IS there any opportunity to move to a different post within the same company? Hope things improve soon xx

Speaking from experience here, just plod on but up the search for another job, look at other areas rather than just the 1 sector
