Insurance Cancellation Charges- Advice?

Options
I'm trying to cancel my car insurance because I've sold my car. They're charging me a £47.50 administration fee to cancel it (annoying that it must cost them that much to push a button, but fine...) but on top of that they are trying to charge me about £90 for a repaired chip to my windscreen which was repaired back in August. Windscreen repair was included "free" in my policy, and it says so on all the documents. So why am I having to pay for this claim now?

I'd welcome any advice you can give me here, I sold my car because I couldn't afford to run it and pay monthly insurance, so really upset that I might have to pay nearly £140 to cancel the policy....

And you have to pay 8p per minute plus network fees to call their customer services who read long scripts at you without answering your questions...

Cancellation fees are normal, it will be in your terms and conditions. It really isnt just to push a button. Its a contribution to the running of the company, rent, rates, wages, telephones, insurances, pens, pencils and a thousand and one other things.

Cant help you re the windscreen. If you have paperwork that says its included you shouldnt have to pay it but again, read the t&cs.

At a guess they are charging you for thewindscrren repair because you are cancelling the policy early and not having a full 12 months policy

They can only do it if it's in the t&c's.
Threaten to complain to the FOS in any case, they will usually back down as that will cost them more than the £90.
