couple of questions about br..

hi, i am planning to go bankrupt very soon.. have the forms pretty much filled out just waiting till i have the fee's. i was just wondering whether to add my Orange mobile contract to it? i am not behind with payments (£35 a month, 11 months left to run) but should i just stop paying and go to a pay as you go sim now?
Also, i am in arrears with my gas (about £200).. what happens to this with bankruptcy?
Many thanks

  • I'm sure someone a lot more experienced than me will be along soon to answer your questions but I believe you should stop paying your Orange contract and add it to your overall sum of debt. As far as I'm aware, when you apply for bankruptcy if you have been paying your Orange contract it could be deemed as preferencial treatment towards that creditor. Don't take this as gospel though, it's just based on what I've read on the forums, as I said; someone with a lot more knowledge than me will be able to answer your question for definate. I also believe that you can add utility bill arrears to your BR.
I'm selfish, impatient and a little insecure. I make mistakes, I am out of control and at times hard to handle. But if you can't handle me at my worst then you sure as hell don't deserve me at my best.

Do you want to keep the contract or would you be happy to let it go?

i dont really mind if i keep the contract... to be honest i am a bit annoyed with the network, alot of the time when i have full signal when i try to call out it doesnt even connect so i dont mind getting rid.

it'll be more difficult in the future after bankruptcy if you wanted another contract...keeping it will help credit files later

the gas debt? that'll go into your BR now they may zero the account & you start again OR depending on who provides they may switch you to a PAYG meter instead

i dont mind about not having contracts again for a while... probably do me good being on pay as you go so i can keep an eye on what i spend. How can i put it on bankruptcy if i do not know how much i owe on it as it is up to date at the moment?

just mention it to your receiver when your interview happens they'll sort it no worries

hi gas arrears are included in br but make sure you phone them on the day of your br with your meter reading so it is all included, they will then send you a new account number to start again :)
