Hi i have just found out i am not eligible for student finance as i have been travelling in Australia for the past 3 years. I have already started my uni degree and yet to pay the tuition fees. They say i have not been resident in the uk but i was not resident in Australia. I am a uk citizen and have lived here all my life except for when i was travelling.
Has anyone had a similar experience and could anyone help. i saw a thread with a similar situation and i saw that the situation got resolved.
Thanks in advance

This was a link that Taiko posted a while back.Don't know if you have seen/looked at it but it may be beneficial to you regarding eligibility.

Taiko is the one with the expertise regarding this and may be able to help(depending on what his/her personal workload is at the minute)
Sorry Taiko, not sure if you are a he or a she(in my mind a he, but who knows)

I have to say that one of my students was in a similar situation and she was unable to access funding, but Taiko has more experience than I do.
What sort of visa did you have for Australia?0 -
I had a working holiday visa for 2 years and then had no choice but to apply for a defacto visa as this was the only way i could stay with my partner while she studied. none of these visas class me as a resident of Australia0
