Every ounce of my being is disgusted with what they seem to have done. To think that we all work so hard for others to claim money they're not entitled to makes me sick.
Rant over (lol!) ...going to look at the other thread now RAS -thanks!Be Alert..........Britain needs lerts.0 -
Just a thought and no help with CB but can you claim maintenance for the children through the CSAThrifty Till 50 Then Spend Till the End
You can please some of the people some of the time, all of the people some of the time, some of the people all of the time but you can never please all of the people all of the time0 -
Which country were the children in prior to coming to live with you? If they have not been ordinarily resident here, are they in fact eligible to be receiving child benefit? Many countries have reciprocal agreements for things like this, includng child tax credits etc., - don't know if that could be a factor?0

If they were/are claiming, would CB really 'disallow' without trying to determine who the children are with?*SIGH*0 -
If you want your CB claim to suceed- you have no chioce but to tell the CB office the full story. If the parents have been incorectly claiming CB- that's their problem- not yours.0

Ms Chocaholic: I had considered it, but as neither parent is working I don't think I'll get anywhere.
AnxiousMum: They were in Spain. Not sure if there is any reciprocal agreement???
DX2: SS became involved whilst they were still abroad due to violence / neglect in home. When they came to be they said that they didn't want to return home, so I took them to SS to see what the options were.
Stasi: I am beginning to think that I may just have to tell them my suspicions. Having these children is not a small burden on my tight resources & the ch Ben money is vital.
It's all such a mess!0 -

Earlier this year I read that raising a kid costs circa 200K per child, I have 2 so I utterly sympathise.
Have you tried asking for a copy of the information relating to yourself and your application under the data protection act? You do this by submitting a Subject Access Request, a £10.00 fee may apply but the recipients have 40 days to provide the information by law - maybe this will shed some light on why your application was rejected?
Also have you sought advice with regards to applying for guardianship of the children? Maybe you'll be entitlied to other benefits too e.g. Child Tax Credit, though of course it'll take a while - hopefully you'll be able to backdate any claims.
Good luck!0
