am trying to get around to registering my cards for cardguard, but want to know what else i can cover other than my bank/credit cards.
for example boots/w h smiths/ nectar loyalty cards etc
are these covered?
and would i be able to phone them from one of those customer telephone banking phones in my local hsbc?
thankies, enlightened ones

I dont think they cover loyalty cards.
I was thinking about subscribing after a telephone operator collared me when I rang to "activate" a new debit card. It seems there are 2 main players providing this "card protection plan limited" at £29 per year and £70 for 3 years for their cover plus or sentinel card services at £20 per year.
I've concluded that if I put in the effort to make a list of all my cards (NOT the numbers) to remind me what I've got and the relevant PHONE number for reporting them lost and stolen then I dont think the cover is worth the money. Unless you've got the money to spare.
The way I see it, is that if I was overseas it would be a hassle to find out the numbers to ring. So if I have a list in my suitcase somewhere, and another in my hand luggage, most the hassle is avoided.
If you're feeling really virtuous store the numbers on your mobile phone and a partners... (hope they dont get stolen too.)
While i was trying to hunt out the numbers for reporting cards lost/stolen I came across a BBC money program article where a lady had big problems when her nectar card was stolen, here's the link:http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/programmes/working_lunch/education/2917005.stm
the message is if you have a nectar card stolen make sure you report it!
Hope this helps.0 -
in my searching I now have a list of phone numbers for reporting lost/stolen cards, listed below for your convenience. Sorry if there are any errors have tried to be accurate. the numbers are usually found on the back of the card- which is helpful if you find a lost card but not if you lost one!

as it transpired, they willingly covered my store loyalty/reward cards as well as other treasures such as my passport and photocard driving license.
they also sent me a key fob to attach to me keys. if i were to loose them, the person who finds them can mail them free of charge to cardguard who will reunite them with their rightful owner.
so far, ive been really impressed with them.know thyselfNid wy'n gofyn bywyd moethus...0
