Hi guys,
I need some help from someone willing to give me a helping hand!
Following on from this thread:
https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/2715231
that I started a while ago, regarding problems with "Activity Superstore" and a gift I bought my sister nearly 12 months ago () for Christmas last year, I eventually spoke to someone senior-ish in the complaints department (after numerous long queues on the phone). Anyway, she eventually agreed that they'd refund me the money I'd paid for the voucher (but refused anything extra for the stress, inconvenience and phone bill expenses!)
Anyway. As per requested, I sent off the voucher to her with a covering letter - she assured me that she'd get the cheque to me as a refund within 21 days. Some time after this deadline, I'm still waiting....
I have a gut-wreching feeling that she'll claim they never received the voucher back. (And I'm truly kicking myself for not sending it "recorded delivery").
Soooo, heres the favour request!
Before I get back on the phone to them next week, I want to ideally arm myself with some info. BECAUSE I've heard they claim vouchers get lost in the post a lot with other people in a similar position to me - so essentially they're stealing - as those poor beggers never get their money back (please, don't ever use this company, they're absolutely appalling). So, I was just wondering whether anyone sent anything by recorded delivery on the 20th/21st/22nd ish of September at all which they could lend me the code for? I know it won't all match up exactly in that of course it won't say "delivered to Ms So-and-So at Activity Superstore" (unless you did have the bright idea of returning something to them by recorded delivery :rotfl:) and I know it might not help at all but I just want to be able to tell them when I ring back to complain AGAIN, as soon as she says "we haven't received any voucher back from you though" (as I'm 100% confident she will say, reading the other complaints about this company), I just want to be able to say "but I sent it recorded delivery and the tracking reference I have says it was delivered on the 21st/22nd/23rd/ish September".
PLEASE! Anyone?! Surely someone on here sent something by recorded delivery around about that time of September? Just so I can borrow the tracking number off you? (Like I say, I know its not a win-win guaranteed solution but lets face it, she aint gonna ask for the tracking number there and then - I suspect when I start threatening further action, etc, etc, she'll just give up).
As this sounds like its a trick this company plays on practically everyone.
Horrible, thieving company.

Sorry, I can't help but can't you just call her bluff as she is hardly going to ask for the recorded delivery code. Also, if she does you would be in the doo-doo since the recorded delivery will show the postcode of where it was delivered to and this won't be the same as her address. Could you not take it up with Trading Standards?0

Good point. I think Trading Standards is going to be my next port of call as it just narks me that they seem to do this a lot when you google for info - sooo many people complaining about them and then they seemingly claim things get lost in the post all the time.

I didn't read or have forgotten the original story but I think that vouchers should be sent special delivery as they are treated the same as cash.
If you said that you sent something tracked the very first thing you will be asked is the tracking info. Using someone else's tracking number will be commiting fraud, so I would be most surprised if someone offered to go along with that.
I have a feeling that you could be onto a loser here if your case is going to rest on this company receiving the vouchers back.0 -
Oh dear
Such a great shame. I regretted not sending it tracked within about 2 minutes of putting it in the letter box. I had that sudden "OH NO!" feeling. Typical.
Seems like its such a common trick of theirs as well. I do hope Trading Standards can help as this company quite frankly should be investigated as it seems like, to me, they're trying to steal/get away with a lot of naughty things. And with Christmas fast approaching, I bet their profits are rocketing up as I type.0
