Which eggs?

Thanks for your responses and I shall continue to buy free-range and save money in other areas!0

I only buy free range eggs and chicken. I couldn't eat it if I didn't think it had lived at least a reasonably normal life.Official DFW Nerd No 096 - Proud to have dealt with my debt!0

It's only a few more pence and well worth it for the animal welfare.
Although the price gap is bigger I would consider buying organic too. The hormones & other rubbish they feed the chickens is criminal (well technically it isn't, but it should be!) The same goes for the meat the taste and texture is so much better. It is so expensive though, it does mean that I buy chicken less often.0 -
i must admit this is the one thing i buy either free range or organic without even thinking about the price i find its worth it although if i am doing a big batch of cakes or something i have bought value and used half and half otherwise it can be expensive.Other women want a boob job. Honey the only silicone i'm interested in is on a 12 cup muffin tray, preferably shaped like little hearts0

I buy free range eggs myself. I don't really think about the cost as I only buy for myself and 12 eggs lasts me a month. I don't pay much attention to the best before dates as I get the ones with the latest date in the shop at the time and have never had eggs go off on me (touch wood).
How much do you pay for your eggs and where do you buy them from and in what quantity out of interest?0 -
I'm very lucky to get my eggs with my veg box - direct from the farmer - they're lovely and I'd pay double if I needed.
Have you ever been to a battery chicken farm? I did for a project i worked on, and I've never eaten a cheap chicken or egg since - and ducks are as bad if not worse with regard to regulations. It's really sad, but the truth is that you get what you pay for, and cheap food often means animals raised in ways and conditions that you'd prefer not to know about.0 -
Organic eggs here too. We get through about 1 dozen each month. I don't worry too much about the BB dates either.
Also we only buy organic milk.
We eat very little meat, mostly chicken, which is free range at the very least and also organic when I can get it on reduction.
Nearly forgot we buy organic mayo too....it is not of more importance than daily life, which I have an enduring wish to make as useful and beautiful as possible.

My auntie used to get eggs from her neighbour, and they used to have seaweeed in their diet, he lived inches from the sea so the yolks of the eggs were really yellow and a lot of double yolks too.“Ordinary riches can be stolen, real riches cannot. I've always bought free-range eggs. I usually get them from the greengrocer in town, they come from a local farm and are 85p for 6 large or £1.40 for a dozen.I've been lucky, I'll be lucky again. ~ Bette Davis0
