Currys Online VENT!

Thanks to MSE forum, I purchased a TV/DVD combi from Currys Online for a decent price of about £120. When it arived it was better than expected but the DVD player didn't work.
I reported this to them and the item had to be returned in early October for a new replacement to be sent out. On the first occasion I tried to do this, the e-mail with the return slip wasn't delivered to me. On the second occasion, the slip was delivered and I took a day off work to hand the item over. The pick up never materialised.
I then phoned and after speaking to a "Manager" at the online section, it was agreed that I could leave the item at the local store for pick up on 11 October.
Last week I had still heard nothing and phoned them on 22nd October. The assistant took the details and I was told I'd be contacted when the next one was sent.
Today, I phoned again. The TV had only been picked up yesterday, 17 days late! I have had to do all the phoning, taking a days leave and being pushed from one incompetent to the next on the phone.
Is there any worth whatsoever putting this complaint in writing? I'm assuming the next one will arrive in working order of course! Yes, it was a refurbished model but it should be checked prior to being bundled up. And yes, the blame may not necessarily all lie with Currys as DHL have been less than professional too (they left it at the back door in the rain when it first arrived), but the Customer Service has been shocking here.

I too am disgusted with Currys, but it is too lengthy to go into here. Their customer services is no service at all and I will never ever buy from them again. Trying to get through is dreadful too.Do a little kindness every day.;)0

Blimey! It didn't work, and that was better than you were expecting?!
I'd have a look at the Sale of Goods Act to see if there's anything there relating to replacement goods and maybe send a recorded delivery letter giving them one last opportunity to resolve the matter to your satisfaction (e.g. collect the items at your convenience and complete the refund/replacement by a certain date). Perhaps you could head the letter "final notice before action" and say you will sue for the recovery of your money if they do not comply.
Then you can just wait until the deadline in your letter. If you get a refund/replacement, great; if not sue them in the county court.0 -
Unless it's a recon one, I don't see any reason that the store can't just swap it there.Squirrel! If I tell you who I work for, I'm not allowed to help you. If I don't say, then I can help you with questions and fixing products. Regardless, there's still no secret EU law.
Now 20% cooler0 -
