Tape to PC?

My mum & Dad are looking to convert their cassette tapes to their PC. Can anyone recommend an easy/cheap way to do this? I have an Ion LP convertor for their LP's, but now need a cassette one. The Ion Tape2PC is a bit more than they wanted to pay.

Many thanks

Nicks

How much do they want to pay?

And what end-result do they want? Do they want the music stored as audio files, or do they eventually want the music on CD?

I used an iMic from Griffin fantastic bit of kit, comes with the software needed, it is time consuming as you set it up press play and record to the PC and leave it you can then edit out the gaps and make the file smaller you would then need to download a program to convert that file to MP3

Any working tape player with an audio out, or headphone connection will do .... I've used an old Sony Walkman for this once or twice and it worked perfectly.

GOOGLER - My mum got an email for this, but with £15.00 off. http://www.roxio.co.uk/eng/products/easy-lp-to-mp3/standard/overview.html My mum wants to be able to put music from the cassette eventually onto her MP3 player & possibly CD. I have never heard of this company...

DIABLE - Will also look into your suggestion.

SPAKKKER - Wouldn't even know how to start to d/l in digital clarity - nephew/neices are all too young to be into that just yet....

depends on the output of the tape player, for a portable player, usually one of these (stereo mini jack), probably available from a pound shop if you don't have one.
