Nationwide Customers A Couple Of Questions

UnderPressure
Hello
OK I applied for a Nationwide account a few days ago, this morning I received a letter from them telling me they can open me a Flex account with a cash card..............................
I applied a few months ago and at the time they said they could only open me a basic cash card account so I did not take them up on their offer, so I am now very pleased they can open me a proper Flex account but have a couple of questions.............
Do they still offer the basic account? Am I deluding myself thinking my situation must have got better recently and that is why I am being offered a Flex Account, or have they done away with the basic account and now everyone gets a Flex Account with either a "real" debit card or a cash card?
Secondly the cash card, I have read on the forum that existing cash car customers over the last couple of months have been offered a new card that has the visa debit system, similar to the Barclays one on basic account, does this also apply to new customer? Will my cash card have the Visa debit system?
The letter also says I will get a cheque book
Silly thing to smile about I know but as a customer who has only had basic banking facilities for a couple of years it will be nice to have a cheque book again and also very useful, I know I wont be able to guarantee any cheques thats fine but to be able to send cheques off to utilities etc again will be great
Thanks in advance for your answers
EDIT:
Also to anyone who has had one of these cash cards have you ever been upgraded? So if I am a good boy (which I always am now lesson well and truly learnt......) for a year or so do you think they will upgrade the card? Maybe even an overdraft? What has your experience been?
Thanks

Cashcard plus is a Visa Debit card. purple looks good. I suppose its like a Visa card from RBS Key account. Or like the Barclays one. I suppose they offer eveyone this card instead of having many cards for one account.
The website previously said that if you pay money in for 7 months ie make it your main account then they can look at upgrading you to the full Visa Debit card.0
