Looking for a new bank account

Hi, I wonder if anyone can help me?, I have a Bank Account with the Norwich and Peterborough Building Society which my child benefit and tax credits get paid into - this totals around £120 a month. This money is mainly used for my daughters activities - dancing, flute, brownies etc, and some days out in the holidays.
I have had a letter from N & P basically saying that my account will change, and I can upgrade to a Gold account if I pay in more than £500a month, or if I pay in less and make less than 5 transactions a month (which I usually do) I will be charged £5 a month.
I have an account with santander, which my wages get paid into, but would really like to keep the child benefit etc separate so I can budget better.
Sorry to waffle, but could anyone recommed a bank where I can open an account that will also give me a cash card and a cheque book (dance school prefer cheques) whilst only paying in a small amount, with no monthly fees, - with also hopefully an incentive for opening it,
Sorry for the long post, I would apprecoate any help, thanks

If you credit your account with less than £500 per month, then it will become a gold light account - you only get charged £5 if you make less than 5 transactions per month or have less than £5000 in the account.
Based on what you have said - do you not meet this criteria?Hi, I wonder if anyone can help me?, I have a Bank Account with the Norwich and Peterborough Building Society which my child benefit and tax credits get paid into - this totals around £120 a month. Try the Co-op bank.
There "Standard Current Account" sounds as if it was made for our needs.
(1) Its free
(2) Can be run via, branch, telephone or your local Post Office
Counter Service. This more than makes up for the small Co-op branch network. Useful as you can withdraw just the amount you actually need (i.e. £11.50).
(3) You get cheque book & debit card.
(4) GOOD customer service. In the "Which" bank surveys its only real rival is First Direct and that needs at least £1500 a month going in!
Suggest you either get the "Post Office Banking" leaflet from your loacal Post Office or look it up on the Post Office website. About 13 banks let you use the post office. Hopes this helps
