Question about Natwest First Reserve & BACS Transfer

Hi everyone,

I think I made a massive mistake but not sure. I am expecting a BACS transfer into my First Reserve account. I was told it was sent on Tuesday and should have cleared by now (this is what the sender told me).

I have a step account but decided to have the money sent into my First Reserve account. It's now Friday morning and I haven't got it yet.

After doing some digging, I am now getting worried that you can't do BACS transfers into a Natwest First Reserve account.

Can anyone shed some light on BACS transfers on First Reserve accounts or is it likely it will clear?

Many thanks in advance. It is starting to worry me! I had a bank transfer sent from Barclays albeit to my step account and that cleared in a day.

Many thanks!

Will be fine going to f/r - only thing I could think is if the wrong account number was used. As long as the account number doesn't exist then the payment will bounce back to where it came from.
  • @willo65, thanks so much for replying! I still have not received it but I will endeavour to wait a bit longer.

The correct account number was used. I just don't get why some BACS go through on time and others do not.

BACS takes 3-5 working days to clear. The reason the payments vary normally depend on when the payment is sent, and how long it takes to go through the BACS clearance system.
    Best Regards

Okay brilliant, thanks for letting me know. I will keep you up to date.

@zppp, thank you for the info on the times. I was worried I messed this up. Most BACS I had done were always done in 2-3 days but I suppose not all banks are the same.

Cheers to everyone. I will post an update if the cash ever does clear!

    hope it clears
even me sending a faster payment is not guaranteed also depends on bank processing times too sadly
  • Update

Money still has not cleared. I don't understand.

Do BACS transfers to savings account really take this long? It's Tuesday morning now and this was sent last Tuesday?????

    Help.

Did the money ever appear, or did you at least find out what went wrong?
