kernel data inpage error on my dell laptop

I get this regularly - it crashes and gives me a blue screen - I just restart and it is fine for varying periods - might be 12 hours , might be three days - it has been doing it for months now - its not the end of the world because I restart the computer and it works fine - even remembers my firefox pages --- but it is still a pain - anyone know if there is an easy fix for this --- I amon vista on a dell inspiron 1721 laptop

    it says kernel-data-inpage-error
    - stop 00000007a (oxc0604000, 0xc000009d, 0xo5c90880, 0xc0800000)

I just copied that down last time it happened - those are the numbers that appear on the blue screen, along with the explanation that it is shutting down as there is a fatal error.

Just about to go out but quick goog found this
    • 0xC000009D, or STATUS_DEVICE_NOT_CONNECTED, indicates defective or loose data or power cables, a problem with SCSI termination, or improper controller or disk configuration.

That was found from here - http://www.geekstogo.com/forum/topic/43519-windows-xp-blue-screen-of-death-stop-codes/

Have a look, or perhaps one of our friends might have a look.

Good luck for now... got to dash  at the doorstep

Could be lots of things ...check all fans are working and heat ducts aren't blocked up with fluff ...

but my best guess would be a hard drive approaching the end of its life....I would make sure all your data is backed up, and then do a system restore(back to factory settings) to help to rule out a software problem..if it still happens after that, prepare to replace the drive.
