Gamestation - Never beaten on Trade-ins my &$(£

Went into Gamestation today and tried to trade in Resident Evil 5 Gold on the PS3. I told them I could get £16 for it at CeX and they refused to beat it.

Normally they just nip out back and check the website but this time they just refused to consider a trade-in despite me pointing to the large sign above his head and asking him if he could clarify what that meant then...

<sigh> Off to CeX...

or there's one for 3 quid on Ebay

Maybe the OP has found a gap in the market, but PS3 games cheap and sell them to CEX :D

I do that with HMV. I got Viva Pinata party animals for 90p, sold it to hmv for £7.

Then they sold it for 20....

This "We will beat any trade in" idea only serves to keep the prices of second hand games erratic and artificially high.

I was looking at Bioshock 2 in a few local shops recently, prices ranged from £14.99 to £28.99, in some shops it was cheaper new than other places second hand prices.

In the end, I managed to get my £17 trade in at HMV. I think there could be a very limited gap in the market...

Yeah, I've noticed they've started doing this - I think a memo must have come down from head office. They used to beat CEX etc by a quid. So what I'd do was pick up a few cheapy games, from boot sales or whatever, get them beaten at Gamestation and sometimes double my money in credit.

Probably why CEX gets bad reviews, CHQ's bounce & no cash to actually buy stuff. Buy 2nd hand goods for more than
    other retailers sell them for.

I don't trade much stuff in a Gamestation, but I was in my local branch browsing yesterday. I noticed a hand written sign by the door stating that they would beat C.E.X on trade ins.

Would love to get the chance to try it out.
