Free parking in Cardiff?

My brother and his wife are visiting me this weekend and we're going to Cardiff so my SIL & I can go shopping while my brother watches the football. Its ages since I went to Cardiff and can't remember where I used to park - a road toward Butetown I think but it was free to park. I know Cardiff is really expensive to pay to park. Any suggestions please? Thanks

Park and ride (off the A(m)48 on west side of cardiff = £3.00.

Otherwise its looking at side roads where there isn't resident only parking. Cathedral Road may be worth a look (I didn't say this but towards town there are loads of offices........... with parking for staff and not barricaded..........(sheepish grin).

Also there are side roads off Cathedral Road but beware resident parking.....

Almost anywhere near the centre is residents parking. You would be better off parking in the John Lewis car park - it will only cost about £8 for the day - cheaper than a ticket

Not true as long as you are prepared to walk for about 10 minutes :rotfl:

How do you think people who don't have a parking space in offices manage?

Thanks for your replies everyone. I had a quick look at the map and remembered it was Bute Street. While all the roads off there seem to be residents parking, Bute Street itself isn't. Only a 5/10 minute walk so can't complain. Thanks again!

for future reference, opposite the Atrium is a pay and display carpark that only costs £1 an hour, or £5 for the day.
