Offer has been accepted- how long to wait?

Ok, this is our situation. FTB in rented, made an offer on an occupied property and had it accepted 4 weeks ago. The vendor is now looking for somewhere to buy. My question is, how long before I can apply reasonable pressure to try to hurry things up? I obviously don't want to lose the property but don't want to be seen as a soft touch either. The vendor said at our 2nd viewing that she would consider renting if she had the "right offer"- we offered 2k under the 165k asking. I understand that 2k would have been handy rental funds for her but is there a 'norm' in these situations?
My mortgage is in place, solicitors are awaiting further instruction and valuation is waiting to proceed.
I popped into the EA about 2 weeks ago to say that things were in place at our end and they phoned the vendor who said she was looking but had found nowhere.
The EA know I am in rented and only have to give 1 month's notice from 'rent day' so there is no real pressure- but in my eyes every month sees me paying £510 off someone else's mortgage as opposed to mine.
Any advice welcome.

This happened to us when we brought our flat, the lady who lived there pulled out of her sale and then we waited 4 months for her to find something else, we hung on because we loved the flat and had started parting with money which we couldn't afford to lose. It all depends on how much you want the house and how long you are prepared to wait for it.
House purchase completed 6th December whole process took 4 months.

Hang in there everyone it is worth it

Happened to us.Been under offer since March and our vendors then pulled out of the property they were buying in July and are still looking!!
We are still waiting, as we love the house and nothing else out there.
If you love the house then stick with it,or keep looking just in case something else out there.
I would speak to the agent now tho' and say she said about moving out into rented if she couldn't find anywhere and get them to ask her the question again.
