Ebay advice please !

A couple of weeks ago I won the auction for a half-barrel water feature on ebay (sad I know) and when it arrived I was deeply disappointed that it was so small it was more of an ornament than something you could put in your garden. I re-checked the item description in the sellers advert and it did in fact give the measurements of the unit, but as I was so disappointed in the item and he was an ebay shop power seller type bloke I thought I'd send him an email to see if he had some sort of return policy as I had hardly opened the package.

Anyway, the chap said that he didn't normally refund payments for unsuitable items but agreed that on this occasion as a show of good faith he would refund the fee I paid (£25). I duly returned the item by recorded delivery and awaited my refund - I am still waiting two weeks later

The guy won't respond to my emails and I know he has received the item so what avenues of action do I have ?

Some may say that it's only £25 but I'm not prepared to write that off because of this guys actions.

Thanks in advance,
Ian.

    How did you pay?

(And you might get better response if you make your thread title a little more specific. Most of the threads on this forum are wanting ebay or amazon help :))

I guess you checked that the parcel was delivered/received by means of it being recorded delivery.

As Moglex say - how did you pay as that will determine what you can do next.

If it was paypal it could have been credited directly back to a credit card and you could have missed that this has taken place.

Has there been activity in the last week or so from the seller (he could be on hols or something).
  • I paid by paypal.

Open a dispute with paypal. They will ask him for his version and if he does not respond to them they can stop him using the service. Also if he does not respond to them within so many days they will make a refund to you without you having to do anything else.

As pbradley936 say open a dispute.
Just before opening the dispute, double check that the money has been directly refunded to your credit card (check your account transactions) because i have missed this before now!!!!
