Getting copies of previous statements from banks

Hi,

I just realised my bank only gives up to 9 months of previous statements, and older ones are £5 each.

Under the data protection act I'm entitled to the information held about me by a company by applying for £10. I'm thinking of giving that a try to see if I can get all of my old copy statements. :)

Any other tricks or ideas?

They should send you statements within the SAR request, yes.
    Best Regards

  • Is it the A&L? You can work around that 9 month limit (with small amount of IT skills) upto 2008 if I remember right. Will post link if you're interested.

    Any questions just ask.
Any idea of a way to do similar with HSBC online banking? Their downloadable statements only cover the last 60 days of recent transactions. You can also go back 6 years looking at archived statements, but that is as a web page only, and it only shows the Payee, not the full reference/description of each transaction like a printed statement or recent transactions would.
