  • I'm going to try so hard to bring it down!

I've got to remind myself everytime I have some 'spare pennies' that this will bring it down quicker if I put it towards paying off..... going to be tough, but worth it!
Time to make a change .......

  • Hi Sammyjo :hello: Well done for posting.

I'm relatively new to the site but I'm addicted. I love the feeling of camaraderie I get from chatting to people in the same position. This forum is filled with lots of friendly people, and if you need to rant to get something off your chest, you get support and not judgement.

I think you should check out some of the other Debt diaries, and see stories of people dealing with their debt really positively, they have bad days too, but it shows just what can be achieved. The good thing about the advice on here is that it has already been tried and tested by other people.

Use the scared emotion as a positive emotion rather than a negative one. Each time you make a spending decision, think about how you feel now and how that spending decision will increase or reduce that feeling. It's quite a powerful tool.

    Good Luck

Hello all and good afternoon, just like to welcome all newbies to the site,i reckon most of us have had our ups and downs dealing with the financial side,so when you are feeling low, come on here to seek a virtual community and have a chat about it.
Sammyjo to make saving the odd pennies more fun why not get yourself a piggy bank (see mortgage pig thread ) 1ve just bought one off ebay and cant wait to get "Napoleon" working saving the odd change.
Also it can be for saving to pay off anything you owe and it soon mounts up.
its true that the old saying "look after the pennies and the pounds will look after thenselves"
    Best regards Megatimbo

  • Try and look at each debt individually rather than the overall amount. From the snowball calculator you will probably have decided which debt you should tackle first. Look at your highest priority debt and see that one coming down and you will feel like you are making more progress.

Be chuffed with yourself that you are a day closer to being out of debt every single day. :D

If you put something back in the supermarket, even if its only 50p, pay that off your credit card ;)

Go through your cupbaords and freezer & do a menu plan using up most of what youve got and only needing to buy bits & pieces.

Do the same with your toiletries, make up and other usueables :D ( i found this made me feel a bit "richer" than I was when I first came here, now Ive cleared out all the half used stuff from my parents :rotfl:

Start collecting coupons out of the paper ( or even papers you find on the bus ) and put them towards your shopping

count up your coppers and bag them and take them to your bank to pay off your credit card

List some stuff on ebay, youll get a great boost when you are paying off a CC with your proceeds :D

All little things you can do to keep going, motivated, and loking after those pennies, and putting them straight to the debt.

    All the best
 Well aint funny how its the little things in life that mean the most? Not where you live, the car you drive or the price tag on your clothes.
Theres no dollar sign on piece of mind
    This Ive come to know...
So if you agree have a drink with me, raise your glasses for a toast
