Hi - Any idea who the cheapest web address registrar is? I've seen amounts of about £30 being charged but when I look on the ICANN it only costs 25cents (US) for each registration (admittedly plus $4k a year in affiliation fees).
Seems a bit steep to be paying a gross margin of 23900%!!!

You really should only be paying around £2.50 per year for .co.uk addresses,, and £7-8 per year for .com
Any more than that, and you are being ripped off. Different registrars offer different things though, so you'd need to look at what you want (such as ease of getting the registrar to release the address if you want to host anywhere other than their server).
A quick search of this forum will show regular threads discussing this topic.0 -
https://www.1and1.co.uk are doing a special offer at the moment - £3.98 for 2 years for .co.uk. Takes only a few minutes to sign up. I've been with them for 4 years now with no problem.0

Thanks both of you. I had a look using the site search and was quite surprised that it didn't turn up a previous discussion along these lines.0

I tried it too, and it did seem to throw up a lot of random threads. 1and1 seem to feature again and again in those threads, and could be taken as pretty much the cheapest, but just check that they give you all you need.0

GoDaddy.com - I paid £6.20 for 1 year .NET with domain privacy.0

It seems that 1and1 do .com for a fiver a year at the moment. Seems to be very good value.0
