Your contract is with the shop not the manufacturer, so if you want any remedy other than a warranty repair you need to take it up with them. Incidentally where was it stored in the intervening months prior to the wedding?

Under the Sale of Goods Act you have a reasonable time to inspect the goods and get a full refund if proven faulty. This period isn't defined and can vary depending on the circumstances. You could argue that as it was a wedding gift you wouldn't have been in a position to have fully tested it until the wedding day therefore you'd be still within this period, I doubt the retailer will agree though. You may have a fight on your hands.

I asked them to put the watch on 'stop' to conserve the battery as it was going to be stored for while. I stored it in mums little safe where she keeps her mortgage papers etc.

how did they do this? If it was by pulling the winder out it was probably a bad thing, this would allow any moisture or condensation to get into the workings and any temperature fluctuations would also have an affect.

(With hindsight!) I would say that you had no need to conserve any battery life at all. My Tag Kirium was bought over 5 years ago and still on its original battery and I've heard of others who have had batteries last longer. I hope its sorted out in your favour though as such a nice watch should be on the wrist and not in a repairers.

Yes it was done by pulling the winder out, the store recommended this and SA done it as I had not read instructions at that point. I dont think this is what caused the problem though as at first the watch worked fine plus mums safe is one of those fancy fire proof all singing and dancing safes. I think water got in when hubby washed his hands as it stopped soon after....but im no expert.

Tags are water resistant to some odd number of metres so this shouldn't be the reason.

BTW - I love my Tag!
