Morrisons getting more expensive

We do our weekly shop at Morrison's for about 10 years now since there store open in our area.
Over recent times I have noticed prices increasing more that perhaps they would know doubt to fund there ambitious plans to take over Safeways
I tend to buy a lot of BOGOF and stock up saving money. There appears less and less of them these days too.
Yesterday I spent over £65 on half a trolley worth of food the most expensive item was a £3 oven bulb which I wouldn't normally buy, I didn't buy any high value items like washing powder.
I normally spend on between £55 and £65, most are regularly goods. In fact some goods I don't buy in Morrison's as they no longer stock it so even when you take them off it can add about a fiver, yet I am increasingly noticing less goods for the money.
I am seriously considering going else where now, although I do some shopping at Tesco's mainly Vegetarian products as I cant get them at Morrison's.
We only have a Tesco's, Sainsburys and Morrison's large stores where I live. I have shopped at Asda before now 50 miles away but not regularly.
Does anyone think there prices are creeping up?

I was just about to post this query when I saw yours. Our Morrisons is going through an extension and revamp just now. I shop there every fortnight and went in yesterday. Was shocked at the increase in prices - ie very few BOGOFFs and special offers, although it was difficult to judge accurately as layout is a mess. Cheese in several different locations, milk nowhere near other dairy products - difficult to see any pattern at all and looks like this is the final store layout as work appears to be finishing.
Anyway, I'll be shopping elsewhere if prices have increased as much as they seem to have. A pity, because I had found Morrison's prices good and the store is the nearest one to me. I'll have to make the 8 mile journey to Asda.0 -
Morrisons is 5 min down the road from me but i now shop at tesco- I agree the prices are going up and the bogof's are now more bogo half price(which i suppose is better than nothing!) but tesco recently sent me a whole load of vouchers £6 off my weekly shop and after that £4 off each week for another 4 or 5 weeks not bad egh?? morrisons don't offer any incentives like that. My other BIG moan about morrisons is the state of the fruit and veg! regulary it is mouldy damaged and rotten before you leave the shop! i am seriously thinking of writing a letter of complaint about this.(thanks got that of my chest!)0

The cheeky so and sos have got another little wheeze going too.
I went in last week and at the front of the store where they frequently put their reduced items they had a pile of bakery items with a "20p" sticker on them, so I bought a load. When I got home I found that these items were not 20p at all but reduced by 20p. Fair enough, it did say this on the sticker but in quite small writing and, in even smaller writing, "the price shown includes the reduction".
I won't fall for that one again.
On another note, our local Morrisons has just closed to be replaced by Waitrose. I was thinking that would be much more expensive but, in the light of the original post, perhaps not?0 -

those '20p off` stickers are black writing on a yellow background too, not unlike the reduced stickers..0 -
I think all foood shopping is getting more expensive we normaly come out of asda averaging £1 an item.... the last few trips we ahve been averaging £1.20 an item .... thats a big increase and i can tell by the fact that we have less bags were not getting the value we did 2 months ago.If it doesnt pay rent sell it.

Hi , I have noticed an increase in prices too. Up until a week ago I was buying the 10 litre bag of wooden pellet cat litter which was priced @ £3.19 now it is £3.39 an increase of 20p which I think is a large increase. I no longer buy this product and buy 30 litre bag at pet shop for £8.49. I have also noticed a steady increase of prices on their food products also. I suspect their reason for increases is the fuel charges for delivering goods to shop. shrewdal0

Very true. They've either reduced the number of them or moved the BOGOFs onto different products which I don't buyPoppycat wrote:Does anyone think there prices are creeping up?
I mainly shop between Morrisons and Sainsbury (and occasionaly Asda). The price of goods has gone up across all these stores.0 -
Yes it all adds up 20p here, 10p there, it can add to a few extra quid on a shopping bill, but with fewer BOGOF it makes a huge difference.
I am not sure the extra fuel charges over the Summer months can warrant the extra prices, fuel now has gone down quiet a lot almost 20p a litre lower.
I dont find Tesco's much cheaper they do have some good products but a lack of them at my store due to it being a small store.
I never found Asda cheap either when I have shopped but with Morrisons prices creaping up a lot of recent months it may be time to move else where.
We have Sainsburys and they have some lovely food but I also find them pricey although OH said there are better than they were, and as OH works there we can get staff discount and 15% soon when Xmas bonus starts.0
