I tried the heat wraps on my back, juno, but didn't get any relief from them.

I still actually have some in the drawer, so will try those on my wrist now. I can let you know then, if they help :)

    Thanks.

I sorry your suffering so pipkin. Have you try the hydrotherapy technique. It alternates both cold and hot compresses on the area of pain.

I'm really lucky that I have access to an osteopathy clinic (training college) and I get vouchers from my GP. I had few sessions when my back ceased up on me completely (MRI shows prolapsed disc and trapped nerve, along with bursitis and arthritis but was happy it wasn't cancer!).

The treatments and the hydrotherapy I did at home have helped a lot. They also advised me to get a shoe lift (my spine's now suffering from scoliosis due to leg length discrepancy). I would really recommend seeing an osteopath if you have access to one, far more use to me than the physios.

Is there some sort of soft support for the handles on crutches? I don't really want to go to putting on wrist splints every five minutes, although seeing the benefit of them. Is the some retro fitting grips for my battered and well used extra legs? Might help to take the pain away in the wrist, shoulders and neck if I used them for a prolonged period

I was just looking into this myself, as I was trying yet again to get a new set of crutches from the hospital's physio dept today (no joy, lunch time!). The handles on NHS crutches cannot be changed (which is very wasteful). I found a site that does crutch padding and even shock absorbing crutches.

If anyone needs wrist support, what type do you use?

I have carpal tunnel and arthritis. I wear wrist splints when I use a walking stick, the computer & at night. The best ones I have found are: 1) The NHS ones loaned to me by my MIL before I was diagnosed. They were issued by the Rheumatology dept 2) Thermoskin splits which are my favourite. Not the prettiest splints but I find them extremely comfortable and generally my hands don't get too hot when I wear them. You can buy them in 3 sizes: S, M, or L, from Boots, Amazon or ebay: http://www.boots.com/en/Thermoskin-Wrist-Hand-Brace-Right-Hand_16436/ 3) McDavid Splints. Not quite as good as the Thermoskin at temperature control but much easier to get on and off and comfotable to wear: http://www.amazon.co.uk/McDavid-Carpal-Tunnel-Wrist-Support/dp/B0019R51R0

I've had mine for 8 months and they are still going strong. I can leave the splint in sometimes when using a walking stick but you may find you need to take the splint out.

    All the best,

    R.

Thank you all for replying :)

I'm still having problems with the wrists and didn't get on well with the wraparound wrist support, so have now ordered some braces for the wrists.

I have tried some alternative therapy, but I guess it's a matter of working through them until I find what suits me.

Good luck to everyone else suffering with this and thanks again for your comments. They are appreciated :)
