Hi everyone, hope you are all well :j
Thought I was going to have a NSD, but realised we have no milk, so OH just gone to local corner shop  OMG how much for a couple of pints of milk.
Have updated signature, and just arranged for my 16yr old neice to come round after school tomorrow as she wants to learn how to bake, and her mum doesnt, still it will be nice to spend some time with herI, not events, have the power to make me happy or unhappy today. I can choose which it shall be. Yesterday is dead, tomorrow hasn't arrived yet. I have just one day, today, and I'm going to be happy in it.

Used my £8 off a £40 spend in Mr T's. But fortunately only £15.15p was for my shopping as the rest was for my parents who are unable to get out and about at this time. Mum paid for their shopping in full so i got £8 of free food. Yay!Grocery Challenge for October: £135/£200

By the time I got to Mr M last night there was only 20 mins before closing as I did not realise they close so early on a Tuesday:eek:. I was all for getting DH his wine and going back today but he said you have your list and there isn't much on it so we should be able to do it.
Because I was rushing I did not add it up as I went and threw a couple of extra bits in to make sure I was over £40 for the voucher. I then saw my favourite beer on special offer for a box of 12 so I would have hit the £40 with out the extras. Got some good offers though Qu0rn mince £1, chicago little pizzas £1 and a christmas stocking for each of the 2 dogs:D
I spent £60.28, £55.10 excluding the dog's stockings and am now over budget:( I had also been forgetting to add on the £10.40 spent on a takeaway and DH luches when I have been totting up my total so the total now stands at £374.44. I will need to get some prawn crackers (Mr M were sold out) and some beer for DH this weekend and that should be me for the month. New month starts on the 27th and I am intending to wait until then to do the next big shop.
DH has requested apple cake, something I can't ever remember making him, so I am off to rummage in my cookery books for a recipe.Save £10,500 - £2673.77 - 25.5%

I am off to the front page to find a good way to use up a LARGE chunk of cooked ham, as it turned out to be larger than we'd thought. How long would it keep, and can I freeze it, does anyone know? I boiled it on Sunday and am happy to use today, but I have enough for at least 2 family dinners.GC 2010 €6,000/ €5,897

Wouldn't have been worth me cooking a joint when it was just me and DS otherwise (and would be even less worth it now I'm on my own), but means that a 'roast' can be had on a regular basis without having to put the oven on every week and then eating the same meat in sandwiches all weekCheryl0 -
Ah - I passed up the chance of buying sliced ham which had a good reduction on it as I didn't know if I could freeze it. Has anyone done that with bought sliced ham? I suppose you can freeze ham sandwiches, so you should be able to freeze the pack of ham??
Have been so inspired by the posts in here that I am going to try extra hard to be inventive with what I've got in.
Hippeechiq- so glad you are feeling better today! I have a combi microwave and find that the oven doesn't cook things as quickly as recipes say. I've always assumed it's because it is small, with less room for the air to circulate around a high-ish sided casserole dish (as opposed to chicken breasts on a tray, eg). Glad your casserole was delicious!

Yep, I freeze sandwich meats too - and again I split into 'meal sized' portions first. Means I can vary what I have on my sandwiches throughout the week
In fact there's very little I don't freezeEggs are the one thing I can think of I've not tried yet, but may have to try that next year as I don't get through many, and the best value packs are waaaaay too big for me and my 'once in a while' omelette or baking session.......

I've frozen, ham, roast pork, corned beef, chickne & turkey, all from the deli counter & they all turned our fine for sandwiches & pasta bakes etc.
I've also frozen sliced ham joint that I've cooked & used that as well, I'd just freeze it in portions as you can't re-freeze it once it's been defrosted.0
