DVDRec with freeview - will it conflict with sky?

Hi

I am finally getting around to getting a DVD Recorder, but the one i want has a HDD, and has freeview built in as well.

We have a sky set-up, and i was wondering if there was any drawbacks to the purchase? Basically, i am thinking that i could record off sky sometimes and if there was anything on freeview then i could watch that the the DVD player, although i don't know if this is possible.

I wouldn't normally think that you'd need to digital tv sources to one tv, so am a little confused. Though i guess, people can buy TV's with digitl tv built in and could use it with sky/cable also?

if you're recording something on Sky then you wouldn't be able to use the Freeview tuner on the DVD recorder as the channel would be 'locked' to what you are recording. Where possible you'd have to do the reverse, record off Freeview and watch Sky. Or get an analogue DVD recorder and freeview box then you can record from Sky and use the freeview box as standalone to watch
