Lexmark printer intermittent fault

Hi everyone , I wonder if anyone can help with this

I bought a lexmark interpret s405 two months ago and it was fine until a couple of weeks ago .

The fault is that sometimes it prints only black ink and is extremely faint - so the map or document is not even usable as a black document.

I have cleaned print heads and deep cleaned print heads , reinstalled and also updated firmware and nothing fixes it for more than a document or two. I have taken inks out and put fresh ones in and again , this hasn't helped .

Has anyone heard of this or know what else I can do ?

Thanks, Jo

Two months?? It's under warranty -- I'd get LM to resolve asap.

Lexmark are quite decent with support and warranties ime.
  • Assuming that you mean maps from Google/Streetmap or such, when you try to print them is your printer properties (on the print tab ) set to Grayscale ? I know printing maps from Google on my B/W printer is very much useless without having change settings.

  • Hello , no its not just maps , it's all documents
  • Yes two months old. Lexmark have now answered my original email and have asked for more info. I hope they dont take too long to get back to me this time.
I am sure it will get resolved one way or another ,I may go back to tesco with it if it goes on too long though as that where I bought it .

Contact LM direct by telephone perhaps ??
  • hi , yes i did that last night. I was on hold with Lexmark for an hour and a half. I hung up in the end as I couldnt wait any longer.
Sorry, all this was in my original thread which I posted in 'consumer rights' before someone directed me to this board.
I could try again at a better time of day (ie not 5-30pm).
    Thanks ,Jo
