trouble finding reasonable priced venue

Hi KD,
just found this in salisbury...
http://www.medieval-hall.co.uk/ceremonies.asphttp://
don't know how expensive it is, but it looks lovely!
Also, if you need a photographer, ours is based in Tidworth, so very near you, I am using him because he did a friends photos and they were great.
He was the cheapest of all the photographers we saw (and we saw a few!). If you're interested, let me know, I'll PM you.

Thanks Magicboo, where in Tidworth are they and how much?
I lived in Tidworth until June this year!

KD - we are getting married at the registry office in salisbury and having the reception at Antrobus House, only having 25 to reception and about 75 in the evening.
i didn't bother with Danebury in Andover (didn't like it) tried the rugby club in salisbury (seemed quite nice) but they had another wedding on our date.
I agree with you about High Post.
Originaly wanted wilton house (that was a pipe dream), thought about Larmer tree gardens but thought it was a bit out of the way and weekday not suitable but a lovely venue.
we also considered village hall reception which worked out quite resonable budget wise but OH visited Antrobus house and thats what we went with. Now its just a matter of trying to sort a caterer - nightmare!
Magicboo - could you PM me with photographer details too please.0 -
Hi, sorry to barge in on your post! We are getting married at the Grasmere House in August 2011. We looked round High Post and didn't like it either!
Just wondering if anyone has any florist recommendations in the Salisbury area? We aren't from Salisbury and are struggling with that and also hair and make up recommendations would be great too please!
Have you got any further with your venue hunt kdalwayskint?0 -
Hellie - i've PM'd you0

Hi Hellie
No we haven't got any further with the venue hunt, I had last week off work so was able to have a bit of a look inbetween painting!
As for flowers, My sister got married a few years ago and I managed to throw a reasonable looking boquet together, so will be doing one for myself, went to Tesco early on the day my sister got married allowing myself plenty of time to play with them and I think they looked ok, I will have to look and see if I can find a pic, but I was thinking I would go the day before for myself and create it the day before too! I will wait to see what happens re Venue before I worry about any other flowery type problem!!!new challenge?£1 a day for Christmas 2024 £367 / £366 ~Got married 24/05/19 ~ Credit CardDFW Nerd #1155 ~LBM 25/2/09 ~ Debt at highest £8,037.35 ~ £00 -
I don't see why Tesco flowers would end up that much cheaper than getting the florist to make them. Prices of bridal bouquets are normally so expensive because of the sheer number of flowers used, wiring stems so they don't flop, aren't too thick etc, and the styles most brides want take a bit of skill to pull together.
I'm sure if you wanted a casual gathered look a florist would do them at a similar price to supermarket flowers?
That is not to say you should go with a florist, please by all means make them yourself - it will be a lovely touch, but I wouldn't want you to assume that because you wanted a bridal bouquet it was automatically going to be £50+!I love surprises!0 -
Hi Maggie
It will be 2nd time for both of us so I wouldn't want the same sort of thing that I had the first time round that cost an absolute fortune!
I quite liked the bouquet I made for my sister and it cost about £15 ish. I mader her a white rose bouquet and my 2 neices a small red one each.
I can't remember how to get photo's on here so I can show you.
When I was in Tesco last week I checked the price of the white roses and the bunch I looked at was £8.new challenge?£1 a day for Christmas 2024 £367 / £366 ~Got married 24/05/19 ~ Credit CardDFW Nerd #1155 ~LBM 25/2/09 ~ Debt at highest £8,037.35 ~ £00 -
It was just from your first post you made it sound like a chore rather than something you wanted to do so I just wanted to make you know that not all florists are trying to rip you off.I love surprises!0

No not a chore, just want to do it the day before so that on the day of the wedding I will not be stressing about anything!new challenge?£1 a day for Christmas 2024 £367 / £366 ~Got married 24/05/19 ~ Credit CardDFW Nerd #1155 ~LBM 25/2/09 ~ Debt at highest £8,037.35 ~ £00
