trouble finding reasonable priced venue

Hi

I am having problems finding a venue, no fixed date for the wedding but plans are for it to be in 2012.

We don't really fancy register office, 2nd time around for both of us, so looking to have a civil wedding somewhere.

We live near Amesbury in Wiltshire, and the budget is minimal (hoping for £2500 and that will be everything from wedding itself to dress & suit).

Open to a weekday wedding.

Any help greatly appreciated.

Thanks

KD

it will depend on how many guests you want and what the venue will do for you
this is the first one on this list

i think the pub venue will be cheapest but something like the first one seems more upmarket than just a pub
if you dont ask you dont get so i strongly suggest going round the venues, explaining what you want and what your budget is to see if they can help you
ours gave us a big discount so we could get married there
if you have a late ceremony with just the one meal/buffet for all the guests it will reduce costs by quite a bit
    good luck :)
I am not bossy I just have better ideas:p

I went to a wedding reception at the George Hotel in Amesbury a couple of years ago, they had a room at the back where we danced the night away!
    That was lots of fun!

  • Thanks guys, we know the Antrobus fairly well, we had our engagement drinks there!

We have briefly spoken about the wedding being held there, but I think we both decided not to, can't remember why?!

So, I have just phoned them to ask for a brochure, and the lady I spoke to said that they have 'guide' prices for food, but if we were to say we only had a certain amount in the budget, they would cater to that!

The only other place near here I have seen that I fancy is a secret garden wedding http://www.larmertree.co.uk/secret_garden.html only thing is it eats half the budget without food and you have to be gone by 4.30pm, Mon - Thur for the wedding (which is not a great pain).

    Thanks again xxx

Debt free since July 2013! Woo hoo! The bank actually laughed when I said I have come in to cancel my overdraft.
  • Thanks for that, I will show other half, but I think its too far.

As for date & numbers, I think we are going see what venue and then see what dates they have available.

The date not really set, just the year!!! :rotfl:

hi, when i read your post i thought i'd written it myself without knowing. The only difference is that we have got a date 28th May 2011. We had a bit of a nightmare finding a resonably priced venue in the area, i think we've sorted it now!
It would depend on what size wedding you were planning really the grosvenorhotel-stockbridge were doing £999 weddings, not sure if they still are.
We also looked at.theinnsalisbury.co.uk otherwise known as the inn at high post (hope somebody can link these for me)

Good luck with your plans, its nice to know someone else in the local area is planning too!

oohh! We looked at larmertree-it looks totally magical!
How about the Red Lion in Salisbury? I've stayed there and it seemed quite nice..
or there's a gorgeous place called wellington barn near calne which we loved the look of..
ooohh! I've just remembered! There is a really cool place called Horsebridge, near Stockbridge, which is an old train station! I seem to remember that not being too expensive..I think!
I'll keep racking my brain! x

Thanks, I will check out a couple of those. I absolutely love the idea of the secret garden weddings at the Larmertree, I think it would work out really expensive although ....

h2b suggested the Salisbury Rugby club so I was thinking if we can get it at a good price with disco n buffet, the secret garden might be an expensive part of the day, but what a venue to get married in!
