Schizophrenia & Benefits

Hi all
Hoping someone can point me in the right direction.
My mum suffers from Paranoid Schizophrenia. For the most part her symptoms are now controlled through the medicine prescribed to her.
She's lived in UK for 30 years but some time ago she had a really bad relapse and the NHS seemed to be faffing around and we were struggling to get her an appointment so we sent her back to our home country where she was seen by a specialist the next day. She stayed for nearly a year but has now been back to UK for about 6 months.
She's currently living with her BF who has been a rock throughout this. My question is whether she is entitled to claim anything? We've never claimed benefits before so no idea how it all works. Would she get income support with DLA? Or is it ESA now? Or would she be expected to get JSA and look for work at the same time?
Thanks

It would be ESA if she's unable to work. She can claim DLA if she has care and /or mobility needs that have lasted for 3 months and are expected to last another 6.Sealed pot challenge #232. Gold stars from Sue-UU - :staradmin :staradmin £75.29 banked
