Deleting files - creating more space

Thanks for all the answers. I did delete the files, and I always empty the recycle bin, but I do not seem to be gaining the space that I thought I would. Not long ago, I had around 38GB free on one half of my hard drive. The other day there was around 21 GB free (I still have 69GB unused on the other half). This has coincided with me using RAW and converting to TIFF. The TIFF files are each averaging between 10MB and 20MB. I may start off the culling session with the newer RAW files and see how much space that gives me.
I will also think about an external hard drive, using disc as back up in future.

There is a possibility that system restore is gobbling up lots of space too. Go to control/system/system protection see how much system restore points are using. This week M$ sent updates one of which meant two installs thus 2 restore points . It maybe that that is gobbling up your space.
