can i leave this feedback

we received an item yesterday, and the inner and outer boxes were badly damaged, however the item itself was still as new

obviously i can only leave positive fb

can i say the boxes were damaged but the item was undamaged, or would ebay class it as a negative comment left as positive, and remove it

You can leave what feed back you want. But if the boxes got dammaged through no fault of the seller that down to the delevery company. I have had dammaged parcels its not my fault Just email the seller and explain that the boxes were dammaged. But if the itiem was not dammaged i carnt see the problem.

I would email the seller and let them know that their parcel arrived damaged but that the item was still ok. It is almost certain that they were not aware that their packaging was not sufficient. As my mamma always says 'how are people supposed to learn if you don't tell them'?

I would then leave a 4 on stars on packaging maybe - not sure if I would but that would be an option.

    I agree with Spudzbunny.

If I have a problem I always email - I had similar when I ordered a porcelain doll - the doll was ok but the box a bit squashed - not too good when it was for a present. I emailed to warm the seller that it ought to be packed better.

Personally hate leaving negative feedback and would rather tell seller direct unless he's blatently ripping people off.

Contact them first. They may make things right.

A seller is always responsible for the delivery company's failure to take care of something - responsibility is not fault, but since it is their contract with the delivery company, it's their job to put things right and make a claim with them if appropriate.

I would think this is what neutral feedback is for if you are really disappointed. If on contact the seller is rude I would feel less bad at leaving them a negative.

  • Do you think the it was badly packaged hence why it is damaged? Could it have been mishandled with the post office? Its difficult to offer advice without knowing the full facts - you should really contact the seller if you think it was their fault just to advise them that is wasn't securely packed - I have received packages here that look like they've been stepped on by an elephant but not down to inadequate packaging and I would have been unfair to mention that in feedback - it would however be different if I received something that should have been packed better.
  • part of the item was sticking through the boxes, so it was a packaging problem
i don't want to say what it was, as that would make my ebay id easily identifiable, i've tried to inform the seller for 2 days, but had no response

oh well, i'll just leave a neutral i think

Never ever ever leave negative feedback without contacting seller first! People that do this drive me mad and should have a negative from ebay for doing this in my opinion. This is exact situation i had and sounds like a smilar problem with a similar product for £3!! I would have happily refunded buyer or given some money back but she just left a neg without even contacting me.
So email the seller and be nice...goes a long way!

I would also give seller longer than 2 days, especially if he/she is not selling anything else as i often don't check my ebay daily . Also did you go through ebay messages as i often miss emails that go straight to my hotmail account as it gets so much rubbish sent to it that emails can get lost amongst them.
  • If the internal box was damaged, then surely this means that the item was not packed adequately. get in touch with the seller, and see what arrangement you can work out.
