Sound's like a stupid question.
I live in the north east of england and have been told i can get my cavity wall's insulated for around £200 is it going to be worth it from a financial point of view. Anybody aware of roughly how long i will wait to see some sort of return?
Before i go can i say i am aware of the environmental savings of insulation and will probabaly be going ahead but was just wondering about the money saving side of the job?
Cheers Ben
P.S. If anybody can reccomend any good insulation companies in my area it would be good.
Cheers again.

state of return should be instant by the fact you will be using less gas (assuming your on gas not storage heaters).
I think your local council should be the first point pof contact as some of then do grants to subsidise insulation and will also arrange the company to do it if you use there grants. this can be for loft insulation as well.If it doesnt pay rent sell it.

I had all mine done a couple of years back and lm really glad l did. You notice the difference warmth wise (which l wasnt sure l would) and from a vague memory i think it only takes a couple of years to claw back your outlay. Go for it0

Hi
I had someone out to look at doing cavity wall on my house, the front doesnt have a cavity so they were only going to do the side wall and the top half of the back wall as we have a conservartory fitted, he said some would drop down....was going to charge the same amount as if we needed the whole house doing :-( would this be worth it?0 -
it seems strange you dont have a cavity at the front but do at the back ??? has the hosue been extended? look at warm front grants or countact your local council councils now have to do more to meet energy saving targets so they gets grants off the goverment. If it doesnt pay rent sell it.

The front has a part tiled apperance, so i think there is breeze block (or the like) a space ?i think, and then tile covering, built by wimpey in the 70's, had the guy around and said that it couldnt be done.... only the side and part of the back,,,, would probably have had it done but he wanted the same price for part of the house as he wanted to do the whole house, this was through the council....or one of the energy companied deals....was really just wondering if it was cost effective to get this little done, I know that every litlle helps but was going to be £200 and not sure if i would save that as surly the heat would just go through the front of the house instead??0 -
Your best bet is to try your utility companies first. If they cost more than £ 150 -£249 for a standard house then try one of the big insulation companies as they have cheap schemes.0
