I own and insure two cars. My full no claims discount and protection was retained on one car, the other car I had to start from scratch and build up the no claims if i have a bump in the one without any no claims would this affect my other insurance policy

Yes and no.
Any accident will affect the ncd on the policy for that car. It won't affect the other ncd on the other policy.
But as you have to declare the claim in your driving history, it will probably affect the overall premium on the other policy.0
