Credit Card Advice

How long will it take for my credit report to update if I pay off and close my cards down just leaving one for emergencies? I'm going to do this to help a mortgage application.

Depending on some providers it can take up to 8 weeks....

Thanks. Is there any way the mortgage company will be able to confirm that I've paid them off?

Only when they update as closed and settled with a nil balance on your credit file. Might be tomorrow, might be in two months time.

Humm, I'll have to speak to the mortgage company and see what they think is the best course of action.
