Getting Home Videos from VHS to DVD via PC...

I am copying a load of Home Videos currently on VHS to DVD. Am doing this by connecting my VHS player to my DVD recorder and just "dumping" the tape - ie a straight, unedited copy.
As with all Home Videos (:)) they are of pretty variable quality and what I'd like to do is grab some of the clips onto my PC, edit/rearrange them etc. and then write them out to a better-looking DVD.
What I don't know how to do is to grab the DVD clips onto my PC. I can play the DVDs on my PC no problem but have no idea where to start with grabbing clips.

I usually use it to save the DVD to my hard disc and then use Ulead to edit it. But this prog will do both for you.0
