in Loans
Hi I hope someone can help me. I have been a complete fool and i dont know where to go next.
I have number of payday loans, i am managing to pay them off gradually and have a plan written down as to how to clear them. or so i thought.
I had a loan from MicroLend Uk of 150 in july. i was unable to pay them so i set up a payment arrangement with them of £65 for three months. this had been going fine. today should have been my last payment, however instead of £65 thy took £965. yes.
I have contacted them and they said it was due to additional charges put on the account and the £65 repayment was just to clear the original loan. I was not aware of this and i have an email from them stating that they would set up the payment plan and stop charges. They told me if i have no money i should go to the doctors and tell them i am depressed and get signed off work for a month, then i wouldnt go out and would save some money!!!
I literally have no money in my account now as they have completely swiped it. my mortgage and household bills are due to come out tomorrow so i really dont know what to do. I have contacted FSA and trading standards and they have advised me to put a complaint in to them.
any suggestions for my mortgage????

wow... so sorry.. not sure you can do much as they probably have a signed agreement... tell the mortgage company the truth and lets hope they are more helpful, you can probably give proof with your bank statement, no? so sorry...0
-
maybe you could report this to your bank as fraud? as you did not authorise this payment?0
-
I have contacted the bank and they said there isnt much they can do and its an issue between me and the company.
I feel so sick ive just sat and cried all day. i guess it is my own fault for being stupid but £900 is so stupid.0 -
have you asked for a break down of their charges and why they ar so high? Also did you pay by DD every month or by card? can you call your mortgage company and explain?0
-
i'm so so sorry.... have you spoken to your mortgage company yet?0
-
I have got just enough money from savings to pay my mortgage but not all of my other bills. they took it from a debit card so i guess its my fault for letting them have the number. the card is cancelled but they said i still owe £200 and that will keep rising.
I have asked for a breakdown in charges which they said they will send but im not holding my breath.0 -
OK, double check the card is cancelled, the last thing you want is for them to take more 'charges'
this must be horrible for you, i was in a similar situation myself earlier in the year, except i didnt have a mortgage to pay.
What bank are you with? I was able to call up and report this as fraud as i did not authorise the payment, it did take me about an hour to get this sorted but eventually they listened!0 -
I am with halifax. I told them that i did not authorise the payment but she said it had already gone through because it was a debit card and there was nothing she could do?
I am so angry with myself to be honest. Im really scared what will happen about the remaining charges too what if they take me to court?0 -
she could run a charge back, call them again, ask to speak with the fraud team and they should pop you through.
Also you said before you have the original email stating they would stop all charges? Did that email have the outstanding balance at the time on there? Also did it have the exact monthly payments you would be paying? you could use this as proof that you did not authorise this payment.
When i reported mine, they credited my account the same day, then they will obviously explain to you that they will have to investigate and they would get back to me with the outcome, it turned out that they did not have a agreement signed (electorically as i believe this is how those payday loans people work) so in the end... the whole thing was written off....0 -
Again im so sorry to hear whats happened. All these companies are scum bags praying on the vunable. I would ring your bank and DEMAND to speak to the fraud team. Unless you authourised the payment they should not have took it. Explain to the banks fraud team whats happened and they should refund the money.
My freind was with Natwest and the same happened to him, they took £500 and he got it back.
All the very best you0
